There was a boy who lived on a street.

His friends thought pants were too bright and his hair wasn't neat.
He was different from all the other kids, because he didn't mind.
He would ride his bike when the sun came out and would jump in all the puddles when it rained.
He loved his music loud and his TV quiet.

He never kissed anything in his life! But only ever held hands with one girl on his birthday last month. It was all really great, but in the moment he got too excited and squeezed her hand too tight, she came to school with a cast the next day, but she didn't seem to mind, she drew flowers that were on fire, rocket ships all over it and said she was attacked by a bear.

But the boy knew there was no bear at his birthday party...and if there was it was inside his hand under his skin, he felt awful so he thought he'd do something nice for her, he thought of what she liked as he walked home from school, on the way he found a hat, she liked hats!

He took it home and washed it in his favorite puddle, left it out in the sun to dry and it turned green. "Rad!" he thought, "she loves green!"  He walked to her house and gave it to the girl who's hand he broke, she smiled and thanked him. She put it on her head and the boy smiled and turned to run before she could see him blush, as the boy ran a neighbor saw him and yelled "how's your girlfriend!?" and the boy stopped running, faced the neighbor and said "you have no right to judge me! I gave her a hat, and she gave me a smile. There is no need for a title. This is strictly business! And this reddness that you see! Is merely a sun burn and nothing more!" the neighbor made a face and said nothing as he continued to walk down the road. feeling proud of himself the boy ran with everything he had in him, past his house, and past the mail boxes. he ran so fast his feet left the ground and he shot though the air. Past the clouds and Past the air planes, to the moon. finally the boy stopped, looked back at the earth where he lived, and scoffed. He took a breath and dived back to earth. through all the stars, clouds, and planes, right into his favorite puddle.
